Arrangements have been made for Malcolm’s stag weekend, here’s the executive summary. Some events will need booking, in which case you need to contact me BEFORE THE DEADLINE.
The “event” is going to stretch over the weekend of Saturday 25th April 2009. It runs as follows:
Friday 24th April 2009
1930 – Dinner at the Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd.
Excellent beer, even better food. There is a menu on the website. If you intend to come along to this you will need to book your place – contact me. No deposit or anything, just numbers.
Saturday 25th April 2009
Drive to G-Force Karting near Pontypool, for a 10am start. There, we’ll race around their outdoor track to establish who’s the fastest on four wheels! Costs are TBC, however this is the bit I’ll need cash up front for. Current estimate is £35 per person – I’ll confirm this by Monday March 30th. I’ll need the cash by April 10th at the latest – that’s two weeks.
From there, we’ll drive to a nearby CAMRA-approved pub for lunch and beer.
Once we’ve had lunch and those not driving have had a few beers, we’ll drop cars off and head into Cardiff, meeting up at the Old Butcher’s Arms in Canton (near the Chapter Arts Center). At some point we’ll meander on into Cardiff via a few other pubs before going to…
Dave Spikey’s show in the St David’s Center at 8pm (2000hrs). You’ll need to book your own seats for this event, they’re £17.50 each. We’re looking to book everyone into a similar location, so try and get a ticket in Tier 11, rows A, B or C, seats 31-36 or thereabouts.
Once we’ve finished laughing, we’ll head over to Charleston’s Steak House for some food and wine. After that…who knows. If you’re coming to Charleston’s, let me know. No deposit, I just need numbers.
Sunday 26th April 2009
A slow start after Saturday night, we’ll meet at the Brecon Beacons Visitor Center in Libanus at 1200 for an early lunch.
From there, we head over to the Swansea Valley to Dan Yr Ogof Showcaves for a visit, and then…whatever people want.
So, for those of you who want to attend, you can drop in/out of the frivolities at any time. I’ll have my mobile on me at all times (07956548902 or 07789912680) so if you need to get hold of someone in the party, call me. There is some accommodation around Cardiff, I have some room, Mal has some as well. If you’re stuck, give us a call and we’ll try to help arrange something.
So, if you want to attend, here’s what I need to know:
Friday 1930 – Dinner at the Bunch of Grapes – Attendance only
Saturday 1000 – Gokarting in Pontypool – Attendance and possibly £35 (TBC)
Saturday 2000 – Dave Spikey, St David’s Center – Book your own place
Saturday late – Charleston’s for dinner – Attendance only
Please keep an eye on my blog, I’ll be announcing updates to this page but not linking to it. Any problems, email or phone me.
See you all there!
My postal address for anyone sending money for the events:
34 Station Terrace, Senghenydd. CF83 4HF
Please make it a cheque payable to Aled Treharne, or transfer it to HSBC sort code 40-16-23 account 11285068. Please use “MWSTAG” and your name as the reference so I know who’s paid. If you are transferring the money, email me as well, just to let me know.
UPDATE
1. Bunch Of Grapes – this has moved on confirmation of booking to 2030
instead of 1930. For those of you attending, there is a £5 per person
deposit and you MUST pre-order. I’ll pay the deposits and we can sort
everything out on the night. I will need your orders by Wed lunchtime
please – sorry for the short notice. A menu is attached.
2. Go-karting – this is now confirmed, and the deposit placed. You can
either send me the money (£35, details at
http://www.thinknuts.net/about.....g-weekend/) or you can
bring it on the day, they’re happy to accept money on the day.
3. Pub lunch – We’ve not yet confirmed a venue, if anyone has any
suggestions of places near Pontypool, please let me know, otherwise
we’ll head back to find lunch and beer in Cardiff.
4. Dave Spikey – If you haven’t done so yet, book your tickets now.
5. Charleston’s – I’ve yet to manage to get in contact with anyone at
Charleston’s. This doesn’t indicate a problem, it’s more to do with
letting them know that there’s 17 people turning up. I’ll send another
update around about this.
Finally, if you need transport or accommodation for any part of the
weekend, please let me know. So far, there are very few cars to/from
the Go-karting center, so if you are driving and wouldn’t mind giving
someone a lift, please let me know. Equally, if you’re stuck somewhere
without a lift, let me know.
We have some spaces in Mal’s house and my house for people to stay
over – it will be floor space, so you’ll need to arrange your own
bedding. If you wish to partake, please let me know.
Finally, any problems, cancellations, ideas, suggestions of things
you’d like to see done to Mal (I thought tying to a lamppost was a bit
cliche’d, but am happy to go with the flow) let me know.
